Writing With Mimi was born because I saw a huge gap between writers dabbling in their stories and writers finishing drafts and becoming published authors. I spent enough time in coffee shops being “picked for my brain” to realize that most writers don’t need more tips—they need a deadline and a push. I had a method and a mindset, and I knew if other writers had the knowledge I had, it might make it easier to get their stories out into the world. I’m a brain injury survivor, a comedian, and a former teacher; I’ve learned that if you can’t find a way in, you build one.

I founded Writing With Mimi to bridge the gap between the people who want to be authors and the people who are authors. I’m not here to hold your hand while you wait for inspiration—I’m here to give you the structure to write through the noise, the fatigue, and the doubt. Whether you’re writing a children’s book or a soul-baring memoir, I bring the professional insight and the “survivor’s grit” to ensure your story makes it out alive. Let’s stop talking about it and start finishing it.

My first life was as a high school history teacher. I was the one staying up until 2 AM grading papers and building hands-on lessons because I refused to let my students’ potential go to waste. They were tough, they pushed me to my breaking point daily, and I loved them for it—because they taught me that the only thing standing between a person and their greatness is the right kind of pressure. After school one day a kid asked me, “Miss, what are you doing here?” He didn’t mean in the classroom helping him get extra credit; he meant in a career that was clearly a size too small for my soul. He saw the "secret life" I was living on nights and weekends—moonlighting as a comedian and wrestling with my first memoir. He was right. I was preaching "meet your potential" to teenagers while I was playing it safe. I decided then to practice what I preach. So I traded the chalkboard for the red pen, and I haven’t stopped pushing authors to their finish lines since.

My journey hasn’t been a straight line. As a brain injury survivor I had to learn how to do everything over again, from walking and seeing to holding a pen and critical thinking. On any given day I have to work 3X harder to achieve the same results. For this reason, most excuses don’t fly with me. Because if I can write a book with one functioning hand, then so can you. I believe that life hands us roadblocks to see how tough we are and to challenge us to leap over them. So let’s build a ladder and get over that obstacle together.

I’m searching for the authors who have stories burning a hole in their pockets—the ones who find themselves capturing frantic paragraphs in one sitting because the idea simply won't wait. I’m here to provide the structure that inspiration often lacks. Consider me your creative navigator: I’ll keep the momentum high and the "writer's block" low, pushing you toward a completed draft while everyone else is still talking about their "outline." Your story deserves to be out in the world, not just living in your head. Let’s get to work and see what it is.
